Akkerendam Nature Reserve, Calvinia Akkerendam Nature Reserve, situated on the semi-arid slopes of the Hantamsberg overlooking Calvinia, is an excellent place to try for Cinnamon-breasted Warbler. The entrance of the reserve is situated about 2km north of the town and it is necessary to get directions while in the town. While you are in the town, try the riverine vegetation opposite the Shell Service Station for Namaqua Warbler. Once at the reserve, the scrub near the entrance gate provides a good opportunity to familiarise yourself with Karoo Lark, especially if you are later heading north to search for Red Lark. Search in the rocky kloofs for the elusive Cinnamon-breasted Warbler, which can often be located by its highly distinctive call. Other birds to be seen include Booted Eagle, Black Harrier, Black-headed Canary, Layard's Tit-Babbler and Fairy Flycatcher.
